Come on MegaMillions. Don’t make me sell a kidney.

You have to be a certain type of movie freak to even consider products like the Kaleidescape Terra Prime SSD 31TB and Terra Prime HDD 88TB Movie Servers, but there is a method to the madness here. Some will say that high-end movie servers are only for those consumers building $100,000+ home theater systems and that most people can just get off the sofa and insert a new Blu-ray disc in their player or stream a film and be done with it. Fair enough.

Some of us don’t have the budget for a $100,000 dedicated home theater room — because we invested a similar amount in our movie collection over the past 4 decades.

Guilty as charged.

I would love to have a Kaleidescape movie server system that can hold all of those films, give me access to thousands more via streaming, and also let me access them using one of their dedicated players in my office home theater room where I can watch Kurosawa and enjoy my ramen with Tyrion and not have to listen to “movie snob” comments for 2 hours.

The process of transferring your existing film collection requires the help of a dealer or custom integrator and there are some additional costs involved.

You are loaned a Kaleidescape Alto system that ingests, reads, and remembers that you own a copy of the DVD, Blu-ray, or UHD 4K Blu-ray disc. It does not rip or save a copy of that disc to the server; there are licensing rules that prohibit that.

Once that is complete, it provides the digital version offered at a discount in the Kaleidescape movie store for purchase into your system. The purchase can be done at any time; which is a relief because paying immediately for 3,700 films would not be a very popular financial decision.

Kaleidescape‘s presence at CEDIA Expo 2023 will be bigger than ever. The booth will be equipped with a Quantum Media Systems 220” LED wall at the front, two Sony 100” TVs on the sides, and a Trinnov processor delivering lossless audio through Meyer Sound speakers.

In addition, nearly 40 vendor demonstrations will be powered by Kaleidescape, exceeding last year’s footprint of 30. Testament to why Kaleidescape is the ultimate movie platform.

The Terra Prime features an all-new board design with faster processing power and faster network – the only dedicated movie server with 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet. The new servers are available with either high-capacity hard drives (HDD) or fast solid-state drives (SSD).

Terra Prime SSD movie servers are the fastest and quietest movie servers available, ideal for yachts and large installations. Terra Prime SSD downloads Kaleidescape high-bitrate 4K movies in as little as four minutes and serves up to 25 simultaneous playback zones.

The Terra Prime SSD 31TB stores approximately 500 Kaleidescape high-bitrate 4K movies and the 8TB model stores roughly 125 Kaleidescape high-bitrate 4K movies.

Tip: The Kaleidescape Terra Prime SSD movie servers’ chassis features a new sleek matte black aluminum finish to differentiate the solid-state models. HDD models have a silver finish.

Terra Prime HDD is a next-generation high-capacity movie server. It can download a Kaleidescape high-bitrate 4K movie in as little as eight minutes and serves up to five simultaneous playback zones (compact) or up to 10 simultaneous playback zones (full-size).

Terra Prime HDD 88TB stores approximately 1,450 Kaleidescape high-bitrate 4K movies and the 48TB stores roughly 800 Kaleidescape fidelity 4K movies. The Terra Prime HDD 22TB stores approximately 350 Kaleidescape fidelity 4K movies and the 8TB stores roughly 130 Kaleidescape high-bitrate 4K movies.
